Piglets pre-school is a friendly and welcoming pre-school set in the picturesque village of Great Staughton, just outside of St Neots. The pre-school accepts children from 2-5 years old; providing them with a nurturing and stimulating environment that encourages development and promotes independence.
We are a charity run pre-school that operates under a management committee structure, with a well-qualified and dedicated team of staff all working together to provide your child with a motivating setting that fulfils EYFS criteria
Great Staughton Pre-School (Piglets) was formed in 1975 starting life as an informal playgroup before it became a formal charity with its own constitution and a management committee.
Great Staughton Pre-School (Piglets) remains a registered charity (Charity No: 291000) and has continued to provide a happy, welcoming and safe environment for children to learn, play and develop over the course of the past 30+ years.
During this time, we have supported many children with their learning and development, preparing them for primary education and supporting transition to Great Staughton School and many other schools in the St Neots’ catchment.
Piglets pre-school offers a warm, friendly setting which provides children with a safe, positive learning environment. We allow them to explore their personal interests, while making learning fun and interactive.
Our pre-school is based in the pavilion next to the village playing field and primary school, and is fully equipped to cater children aged between 2 and 5 years. In comparison to many pre-schools, we are a relatively small setting but this enables children to thrive and experience a wider variety of activities and experiences that many other pre-schools are unable to offer. We have a high staff to child ratio so we can offer the highest levels of individual care and attention.
We accept children from different catchment areas, so please don’t hesitate to stop in and chat with our staff about enrolling your child. We have capacity for up to 24 children.
Piglets pre-school is a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance and registered with Ofsted. We are continually striving to improve the setting for the children.
Interaction with Primary School
We work closely with Great Staughton Primary Academy, introducing the children to the concept of ‘big school’ via regular school visits throughout the children’s time at Piglets (not just the final 6 weeks before the summer school holiday). We work in partnership with the school, joining their assemblies, using their library, particpating in gym/sports days and visiting the reception stage classroom and playground. These visits help to prepare children for the transition and allow them to meet new friends.
Piglets pre-school has vast experience working with children that have complex and additional needs, including children who speak English as a 2nd Language. Our staff are SEN experienced and qualified and will work with you and your child to meet their unique needs and develop their innate qualities.
Patience and consistency is paramount for the child to find their own successes!
