Learning, Development and Assessment
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework sets out standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five years old. Specific areas of learning are adopted and promoted using indoor and outdoor activities to help children to meet and exceed the goals and targets they’re expected to attain.
Learning and Development
We are very focused on promoting learning through constructive and interactive play, taking part in wide-ranging activities that develop language and skills, whilst promoting team work and problem solving. By encouraging creative thinking, we are able to provide both child-led and adult-led activities that help the children to learn in a fun way, whilst making excellent progress in all key areas of learning and development.
Piglets pre-school is wholly committed to providing the best possible learning and development environment for young children, offering them the best possible start and ensuring they are fully prepared for the transition to primary education.
Our staff undertake close observations on a daily basis to document each child’s progress in written and photographic format. This helps us to recognise and celebrate achievements and identify next steps for progression. We always encourage parents and practitioners to share achievements and needs and we focus on building vital communication links that help to create a cohesive partnership between pre-school and every day family life.
The pre-school keeps a learning and achievement profile for each child; documenting their individual progress and achievements and outlining future areas to explore that broaden their learning and development.
