Preschool Policies and Procedures
Piglets preschool have policies and procedures in place, which are reviewed and approved each year by the preschool staff and committee members. All of our policies and procedures can be viewed by parents/carers on request. Please ask us if you would like to review them, we always have a copy to hand in the office.
The preschool is strictly no smoking and this includes vaping and e-cigarettes; smoking is not permitted inside or outside the preschool’s premises.
MOBILE PHONES / CAMERAS
We respectfully ask that you refrain from using your mobile phone and taking any photographs whilst on the premises, in the carpark or in the outside play areas.
If your child has an illness or infection, please keep your children at home for at least 48 hours since cessation of the sickness or diarrhoea to prevent the spread of infection within the preschool.
Kindly inform us if your child has any infections that may pose a risk to other children or adults, this includes incidences of head lice and worms, which are easily spread. The preschool will update other parents and make additional observations of any child that appears to be unwell or not themselves.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
The preschool promotes healthy eating and encourages regular exercise. High levels of health and hygiene are practiced and visual risk assessments are undertaken by staff on a daily basis before and during session, in addition to written risk assessments.
All children are welcome to attend Piglets Preschool, regardless of culture, race, sex, religion or disability.
SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS
Piglets preschool welcomes children with SEN and will liaise with parents, specialists, the Office of Children and Young People’s Services (OCYPS) to determine child requirements and setting provison suitability.
Once parents have left the premises, the main access door is kept locked and the pavilion entry door is kept locked to prevent entry. No one is admitted without ID and the visitor book must be completed. All staff are required to sign in and out and parents are asked to sign their children in and out too.
ACCIDENTS / FIRST AID
We keep an accident record book on site and we record all accidents and incidents in writing, together with any treatment administered to the child. On collection, the information will be discretely shared with the parent/carer.
In the interest of safeguarding, any bruise, cut, injury or other item of concern will be noted and advice sought where abuse is suspected.
In the interest of safeguarding vulnerable people from being radicalised to supporting terrorism or becoming terrorists themselves, staff and committee members have undertaken PREVENT and CHANNEL training.
We are committed to protecting the rights and freedoms of individuals with respect to the processing of children’s, parents, visitors and staff personal data. A copy of our GDPR policy is available on request, alongside all setting policies.
